Maria Gabriela Ayerdi Barrios (Guatemala) Acción Ciudadana
Graduated from the Juridical and Social Sciences Faculty of the Rafael Landívar University, additional training in seminars on The Right of Access to Public Information, courses of Social Audit Tools, Gender and Social Inclusion, and Open Government. She is currently Coordinator of Projects in the Organization of Civil Society Citizen Action, Guatemalan chapter of Transparency International -TI-. For 8 years she has specialized in issues of transparency, citizen participation, accountability and fight against corruption, promoting institutional strengthening and empowering citizens through different projects and programs assisted and coordinated. Has participated in the independent monitoring reports of the Anti-Corruption Conventions, assessed compliance with the Law on Access to Public Information, the National Integrity System, is part of the Open Government technical table, has worked to promote institutional reforms in matters of Transparency and access to public information, and has legally assisted more than 2,000 citizens who have been victims or witnesses of corruption cases in Guatemala. At the international level, she has participated in training workshops on social auditing and citizen participation. She has represented the organization at summits such as the Regional Alliance for Freedom of Expression and Access to Public Information, the Summit of Open Government, among others. It has also trained TI chapters in Latin America to replicate the model of legal advice to whistleblowers.
