Social Media in Challenging Environments

For years, companies worldwide have used social media analytics to better understand consumer behavior, track the success of campaigns, and frame their strategies. Increasingly, nonprofits and government agencies are incorporating these same tools into their work to understand social dynamics and gather data that can fill gaps in information on behaviors and perceptions.
On September 15th, PeaceTech Lab and Crimson Hexagon invited practitioners from around DC to an interactive workshop focusing on how organizations working in conflict- and disaster-affected areas use social media to creatively monitor and respond to events on the ground. Participants received special hands-on training for tools like Crimson Hexagon, Geofeedia, and Zoomph that make this work possible.
