PeaceTech Lab is looking for a motivated person to serve as manager of the Lab’s data and analytics programs, including groundTruth and the PeaceTech data hub.  The successful candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team responsible for implementing and iterating data related solutions for peacebuilding. The position involves a combination of responsibilities including product and project management, hands-on analytics tasks, preparation of reports and proposals and supervision of interns. The data and analytics manager will report to the Chief Data Scientist and work with the entire team in furthering the mission of PeaceTech Lab.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Lab and the Chief Data Scientist in successfully managing ongoing and new data programs
  • Provide project management support for data programs, including groundTruth
  • Work on data science tasks related to the PeaceTech data hub, groundTruth and other data programs
  • Provide program design, development, and training support for projects incorporating social media analytics
  • Identify and curate relevant data sets for the PeaceTech data hub and groundTruth
  •  Coordinate with key experts within USIP to apply data-driven analysis to peacebuilding programs
  • Supervise interns assigned to data programs 
  • Provide budget support and prepare regular financial reports as needed 
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Prior project management experience (at least 3 years preferred)
  • Data science experience: familiarity with R, Python or other data science platforms
  • Experience in defining and using APIs
  • Experience with social media analytics and tools
  • Experience with data visualization and tools such as Tableau
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a team to rapidly produce prototypes and iterations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Quantitative analytical abilities
  • Strong organizational and writing skills
  • Excellent technical skills including Excel, project management software, etc.
  • Technical degree (in CS or related field) desired
