Specialist, Peacetech Lab Africa
Yahya Mohamed is a Specialist at PeaceTech Lab Africa's Nairobi-based office. PeaceTech Lab works to reduce violent conflict using technology, media, and data to accelerate and scale peacebuilding efforts. Headquartered at the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP), the Lab carries out its mission in close collaboration with public and private sector partners.
Yahya works with PeaceTech Lab Africa on the Hirka Nabadda (Wave of Peace) program in Somalia, which is a peacebuilding radio program that works to educate Somali youth in Southwest and Juba regions of Somalia on gender, non-violent problem solving, culture, art and music. Yahya has a background in communications and formerly worked as a Communications Manager for Médecins Sans Frontiers and as a Media and Communications Manager for the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM). Yahya has a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics.
